I have a confession to make - although I sit in front of a computer pretty much every day,
I'm actually incredibly crap at websurfing. Put me in front a browser, and after 10 minutes
I'll be bored. Part of this can be attributed
to the fact I have no long term memory, and always forget what sites I like to visit
(and am incredibly reluctant to "clutter" my favorites list).
Enter bazzalives - now I can remind myself of where to go when bored, and I have the convenient excuse of "sharing my interests with my 'friends'." Without further ado, here are some places I think worthwhile. Each section offers its own special type of yummy goodness. Mates Geek Intellectual
Mates
These folks have had the misfortune to know me or work with me over the years. The use of the
term mates is just another example of my wannabe status in my adopted country.
Frosties - How is it that a man that designs software for a living can neither work an iPod, nor get a DSL modem working? How can he still have a website that uses frames? Every day I struggle with these questions. Unfortunately, the answers do not lie within frosties - its just full of pictures ripped off of bazza lives. Unfortunately, I owe pretty much my entire career to this man, so I feel like I should at least give him the courtesy of a link. Nixta - Claims to be less talented than yours truly in the graphic design department. Let this site be resounding proof that he's wrong. Without nixta, there would be no bazzalives (at least initially), so please let him know the pain he's inflicted on humanity. Tartley - Shall undoubtedly throw the book at me for not adhering to proper web design standards.
Geek Stuff
Not only am I geek, I'm not event clever enough to have unique interests outside
normal geekdom. As a result, all the sites you see below are the same sites that
all geeky 14 year olds across the country are looking at.
Slashdot - A haven of mature discussion regarding technology issues. As long as you can avoid reading the comments from 13 year olds, it actually has quite a few good stories. Red vs. Blue - An internet television show acted out with characters in Halo. Its fecking brilliant, and I'm a member. Penny Arcade - The only webcomic I read. It also happens to be the only webcomic I know about. |
